Monday  July 14 at 2pm— Dig into Archaeology with RI's State Archaeologist

Tim Ives

Rhode Island's head archaeologist, Tim Ives, talks about the basics of "digging up the past". During this workshop you will create your own Native American clay pinch pot and decorate it by impressing it with shells, cords, sticks, etc., just like the New England natives did 2,000 years ago.



Thursday  July 17 at 11am—Lego Club/Game Day

Children can play with our Legos and/or board games or they are welcome to bring their own.  These programs have been a great success in the past and it is sure to be loads of fun!



Monday  July 21 at 2pm—Laura Matta from Polynesian Fusion

Let’s go to Hawaii!  Learn about all things Hawaiian, such as Mount Kilauea, speaking of things that go “fizz and boom”, as well as Hawaiian music and dance.  Children will have a chance to learn songs, drumming, and 2 complete hula dances!

Thursday   July 24 at 11am— Dandy Acres Llama

This is a hands-on program with a real, live llama!  Children will learn all about llamas and get to touch the llama and have their picture taken with her!  Dandy Acres staff will answer any questions the children have about these fun animals.



Monday  July 28 at 1pm--**TEEN PROGRAM**--Hunger Games *for ages 10-15*

Calling all tributes!  Welcome to the 74th Annual Hunger Games!  The time has come to say goodbye to loved ones and journey to the capitol to begin your training.  Learn to create shelter, locate and purify water, and learn to build a quick fire.  Happy Hunger Games!  May the odds be forever in your favor!


Thursday  July 31 at 11am—Project CHICK—Casey Farms

A farm educator presents a slide show on chicken development.  This is followed by a hands-on display of various bird eggs and a visit from one of the farm’s Dominique chickens, a rare breed they are actively conserving.



Monday  August 4 at 2pm—Rat Race with Mitsy and Bitsy

Children will help construct an obstacle course from household items for hairless dumbo rats Mitsy and Bitsy to race in. 

****CHILDREN MUST PRESENT SIGNED WAIVER FROM PARENT IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE.


Thursday  August 7 at 11am—RI State Police

A Rhode Island State Trooper will be here with his search and rescue dog “Zeus” to talk about what his job entails and how the police dog helps to take a bite of crime!  This program is sure to delight audiences young and old.



Monday  August 12--**CLOSED FOR VJ DAY**



Thursday  August 15 at 11am—End of SRP Party

Join us for the last program of the summer. There will be yummy pizza, fun games, and we'll give away some terrific prizes!
